»Villa Sonnenberg«

Villa
8032 Zürich/ZH (CH)

Historic elegance meets modern living culture

On the Zürichberg you live a reasonable distance from the hustle and bustle of the valley. A fresh breeze blows in from the nearby forest, and after a clear night you can still feel the morning dew. At the same time, you are never far from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

In one of the best residential neighbourhoods, the "Golden Triangle", the elegant »Villa Sonnenberg« sits enthroned on the hillside, just a few steps away from the forest and vineyards. It is a classic Belle Epoque villa with extravagant furnishings, many original details and a park-like garden that stretches as far as the next intersecting street. From the villa you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the city on the Limmat, Lake Zurich and the Alpine peaks.

The luxurious villa was built in 1911-1912 for a successful publisher to plans by star architects Otto Pfleghard and Max Häfeli. After an eventful history, the property was renovated in 2017-2019 in accordance with its listed status, without compromising on contemporary comfort.

»Villa Sonnenberg« is easily reached by glass lift from the cathedral-like underground car park. Alternatively, the villa's elongated entrance can be reached from the road on the hillside side, giving access to all the rooms on the ground floor, which is elevated above the garden.

The entire panoramic side is taken up by the magnificent sequence of rooms comprising the dining room, living room and lounge. The living room features an elegant herringbone parquet floor and the lounge has a striking coffered ceiling.

The large dining room with bay window is perfect for socialising over a delicious meal, which can be continued on the spacious terrace with spectacular views. Adjacent to the dining room is a spacious kitchen/living room with top of the range appliances. And to the far south, the extension leads to a magnificent conservatory where you can relax and enjoy the fantastic garden.

An opulent library can be created in the spacious room at the centre of the upper floor, where you can let your thoughts run free in front of the fireplace. The bay window room to the south could be used as a music or media room, while the room to the north-west could be a study with an inspiring viewing balcony. The extension opens to a long room with a bathroom and exposed beams, perfect for a quiet master bedroom.

Finally, on the top floor of the villa there are several children's and guest rooms, each with its own character. And on the garden level below, in addition to the wine cellar and utility rooms, there are three further large living areas for guests or staff.

Relax in an atmosphere of luxury and space after a busy day. As the cirrus clouds in the sky glow with the last rays of the sun, the lights of the city below come on. Further back, Lake Zurich shimmers mysteriously in the evening light. The »Villa Sonnenberg« is the ideal retreat in the vibrant Swiss metropolis.
