»Baslerhof«
Basel – Economic and cultural metropolis
In the second half of the 19th century, wealthy citizens began to build their magnificent residences outside the city walls. To the east of the St. Alban's Gate, the Gellert villa district was created in a park-like setting.
The »Baslerhof« is a well-maintained residential and commercial building, one of the few remaining historic examples of the Gellert district. Built in 1903, the villa features a striking mansard roof, a magnificent neo-baroque façade, numerous atmospheric rooms, a modern extension built in 1974 and a historic coach house with garage, which can be converted into additional offices, studios or guest apartments.
There are several supermarkets, original shops and excellent restaurants within walking distance of the City Villa. The entrance to the Old Town at St. Alban's Gate is just a few minutes' walk away, or you can take the tram to the centre and Kleinbasel.
Prominently situated on a town square, »Baslerhof« has two addresses, making it particularly suitable for a prestigious company headquarters. However, the villa could just as easily be transformed into a spacious family home. Use as an apartment block is also conceivable.

hearing from you
The modern extension sits like a shimmering crystal on the villa. Inside, a light-filled foyer welcomes you. A baroque open staircase leads to the wainscotted entrance hall with fireplace, where an imposing staircase leads to the upper floors. Another closed staircase is in the modern extension.
On the ground floor is an elegant enfilade of four large rooms linked by wide passageways. Particularly impressive is the fully panelled south-east drawing room with its fireplace, fine parquet flooring and attractive stucco ceiling. To the south, a light-filled veranda, like a conservatory, extends far into the tree-lined garden.
The sequence of rooms on the first floor is very similar to that on the ground floor. Above the veranda is a large outdoor terrace, and to the east a box-like balcony offers views of the grand staircase and the neighbourhood.
The numerous rooms on the first floor would provide children's and guest bedrooms if used for residential purposes. A spectacular executive suite or master bedroom could be created in the modern extension. The roof terrace offers stunning panoramic views of the city of Basel. And the basement offers many other possibilities for expansion and use, including a festive wine cellar with an archaic round vault.
In the park-like garden of this urban villa, you can relax from the hustle and bustle of the city in the light shade of mature trees. The »Baslerhof« is a unique architectural ensemble that is a joy to breathe new life into.
