»Wassermusik«
Between idyllic countryside and picturesque small town
Where the Rhine leaves Lake Constance, the historic Wassermusik estate rises up in Wagenhausen TG. On a hill south of the river, you can enjoy spectacular views of the idyllic landscape and Hohenklingen Castle, which towers high above the village. The extensive grounds extend down to the Rhine, where you can cool off in the clear water.
‘Wassermusik’ consists of two parts of the house with separate addresses, driveways and entrances. The extravagant northern part with the waterfront property comprises a luxurious apartment, while the southern part of the house contains three rental apartments that impress with beautiful parquet floors and numerous fascinating details.
In the nearby village centre, there is a Volg shop for daily needs. Wagenhausen TG has grown together with Stein am Rhein SH, so you can benefit from a wide range of shopping opportunities, leisure activities, cultural events, cafés and restaurants. The small town impresses with its excellently preserved old town and magnificent facade paintings. The train station is about a ten-minute walk away and Zurich city centre is just 50 minutes away by car.
The property, referred to in documents as a castle, was built around 1530 and was the seat of the Obervogtei Wagenhausen. It has been extensively renovated in collaboration with the monument preservation authorities, including the magnificent wall painting from 1689 on the north façade.

The side wing of the north section leads to the entrance hall with its artistically curved internal staircase. The magnificent, loft-like living room has a lively patina thanks to the iridescent colours of the original stone floor. The high beamed ceiling, a huge wooden pillar and a stately fireplace create a real castle atmosphere. The spacious dining area is the perfect place to gather for a delicious feast.
A light-flooded glass room has been added to the side wing, which houses the kitchen with its first-class professional stainless steel appliances. Socialising can continue at any time on the outdoor terrace with its spectacular view of the Rhine landscape.
The large living and working room on the upper floor, with lime green panelling and fine parquet flooring, is filled with daylight through long rows of windows. To the north-west is the cosy master suite with en-suite bathroom. The charming children's or guest room also has an en-suite bathroom.
Beneath the exposed roof structure is an inspiring, loft-like space where living and working can flow seamlessly into one another. With its own kitchenette, Swedish stove, bedroom and bathroom, family members can stay here independently.
On the large balcony in the dormer window, you almost feel as if you are floating above the picturesque landscape. And don't forget: in the basement there is a magnificent wine cellar with solid stone walls and supporting beams, inviting you to taste the fine wines from the surrounding area.
From ‘Wassermusik’, you can marvel at the spectacle of the ever-changing colours and textures of the slowly flowing Rhine, whether from the magnificent interiors, the balcony, the outdoor terraces, the idyllic garden or directly on your own Rhine beach.
