Preserving history — shaping the future: Nobilis Estate AG is committed to historic residential buildings
Historic residential buildings are much more than just real estate — they are living witnesses whose walls reflect stories, craftsmanship and cultural identity. Maintaining them requires passion, knowledge and special responsibility.
This is exactly where Nobilis Estate AG's commitment comes in. As a partner of Domus Antiqua Helvetica, the Swiss Association of Owners of Historic Residential Buildings, the company supports the preservation and promotion of valuable buildings. The aim of the partnership is to protect Switzerland's architectural heritage, promote professional restorations and bring historic buildings into contemporary use — without losing their character.
”For us, selling a historic house is also always a journey through time“, explains CEO David Hauptmann.”It's about understanding the charm, uniqueness, and soul of a building — and at the same time ensuring that it's preserved for future generations.”
Interview with David Hauptmann, CEO of Nobilis Estate AG
question: Mr. Captain, why is preserving historic properties important to you?
David Hauptmann: Historic properties tell stories — of generations, of craftsmanship, of a time when construction was still a very personal matter. These values are unique and not reproducible. When we lose such buildings, we lose a piece of our identity. That is why I am very much in favour of monument protection!
question: How did the collaboration with Domus Antiqua Helvetica come about?
David Hauptmann: Privately, we own a historic castle estate and of course immediately became a member of Domus Antiqua Helvetica. Since we always have historical listed objects and even their gardens or parks under garden heritage protection in our portfolio, it was obvious that we would also get involved as a company. The values and goals of Domus Antiqua Helvetica are very much in line with our own. It was therefore a logical step for us to enter into this partnership and work together to preserve cultural assets.
question: Is there a historic building that particularly fascinates you personally?
David Hauptmann: Our home (Laughs!) There are a few that I am impressed by when I enter a property where you can still find original paneling, parquet floors, stucco ceilings or handmade fittings, among other things. These and many other details have a look that cannot simply be recreated with new buildings.
question: How can the protection of historical substance be combined with modern use?
David Hauptmann: That is an exciting challenge. It not only requires tact when it comes to the structure of the building, but also when working with the monument protection authorities. Their expertise is enormous and you quickly find yourself when you fall in love with a historic building — it is always possible to carefully modernize old buildings without destroying the character. The best projects are those in which history and contemporary comfort blend harmoniously.
question: What do you expect from the partnership?
David Hauptmann: We want to create awareness — among owners, buyers and the public. Historic residential buildings deserve appreciation and care. And if we can help to ensure that these treasures are not only preserved but also brought to life, then that is a win for everyone. Plus, DAH and we have the same target group!
With the partnership with Domus Antiqua Helvetica, Nobilis Estate AG underlines its passion for quality, value retention and sustainable construction. Together, both partners want to set an example — for respect for our building culture and for ensuring that history remains firmly established in the modern world.
