Basel — economic and cultural metropolis

In the second half of the 19th century, wealthy citizens began to build their magnificent homes outside the city walls of Basel. The Gellert villa district was built east of St. Alban Gate in the middle of a park-like landscape.

The very well-maintained” Baslerhof “residential and commercial building — one of the few surviving historical testimonies of Gellert — is located in this preferred urban district to this day. Built in 1903, the villa impresses with a distinctive mansard roof, a magnificent neo-baroque façade, numerous atmospheric rooms, a modern extension from 1974 and a historic coach house with garage, which can accommodate further offices, studios or guest apartments.

Just a few steps away from the city villa, there are several supermarkets, original shops and excellent restaurants. The entrance to the old town at St. Alban Gate is just a few minutes' walk away, or you can take the tram quickly to the city center and Kleinbasel.

Prominently located on a town square,” Baslerhof “has two addresses, which makes the property particularly suitable for a prestigious company and company headquarters. However, the villa can just as easily be designed as a spacious residential and family residence. It can also be used as an apartment building.

The modern extension connects to the villa like a shimmering crystal. Inside, you are greeted by a light-filled foyer. A baroque staircase leads further into the entrance hall equipped with paneling and fireplace, where an impressive staircase connects to the upper floors. There is another closed staircase next to the modern extension.

On the ground floor, there is an elegant enfilade of four magnificent rooms, which are connected to each other via wide passageways. The fully panelled hall in the southeast with fireplace, elegant parquet and charming stucco ceiling is particularly impressive. In the south, a light-filled veranda like a winter garden extends far into the tree-covered garden.

The first floor has a very similar sequence of rooms as on the ground floor. A spacious outdoor terrace opens up above the veranda and, to the east, a lower-like balcony presents views of the magnificent staircase and the urban district.

The numerous rooms on the second floor would accommodate the children's and guest rooms if used for residential use. In the modern extension, a spectacular executive room or a master bedroom could be set up. From the roof terrace, you can enjoy a fascinating view of Basel's city panorama. And the basement offers many other expansion and use options, for example with a festive wine cellar with an archaic round vault.

In the park-like garden of the city villa, you can relax wonderfully from the hustle and bustle of the city in the light shade of old trees. The “Baslerhof” is a unique architectural ensemble that people like to breathe new life into.
