Whether as a residential, restaurant or commercial building — the center of Schwyz...
Schwyz has not only given the Swiss Confederation its name, but also embodies all the characteristics that make this country so unique: the privileged location in a spectacular landscape, the harmonious interplay of culture and nature, and the balanced balance of tradition and modernity. The origins of important events and myths in Helvetic history lie here in the heart of Switzerland.
Schwyz nestles on the sunny and wind-protected foot of myths, whose rock pyramids rise skyward as characteristic landmarks. The magnificent main square, which is flanked by the parish church, the town hall and the mansions, is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Switzerland. People meet here for important cultural, religious and social events.
The residential, restaurant and commercial building located close to the main square “Café Haug” was the seat of the café of the same name founded in 1889, which was appreciated far beyond the town for its hospitality and confectionery skills. The property offers a wide range of uses: It can either be used entirely as a catering establishment or just as well as a pure residential building.
It is not surprising that the natural environment of Schwyz offers almost all alpine leisure activities. You can spend a warm summer day at nearby Lauerzersee or enjoying water sports on Lake Lucerne. In winter, several ski areas attract visitors with varied slopes, which can also be reached by bus and train.

The baroque town house “Café Haug” built in 1644 served as a rectory for a long time and was taken over by the Haug family in 1935. From the lively Postplatz, you enter the friendly sales room in the single-storey extension. If you want to relax, you can continue to the slightly higher tea room to enjoy coffee and cake in stylish furniture and under beautiful stucco ceilings. Or you can opt for the large outdoor terrace, where you can watch the hustle and bustle on the street in the sun or in the shade.
The central bar area with a distinctive, semicircular bar forms the communicative heart of the café house. In the west, you reach another light-filled guest room. One floor above is the “Säli”, which can accommodate larger groups and closed companies. In the north, the various catering kitchens with highly professional equipment adjoin.
If used privately, you can relax wonderfully at the historic tiled stove in the middle of the three interconnected rooms on the 2nd floor. The spacious master bedroom adjoins the east. On the north side, there is a children's or guest room as well as a kitchen and bathroom. There are three more charming children's and guest rooms on the 3rd floor - one with its own ensuite bathroom.
In the midst of the magnificent alpine landscape, the beautifully situated Schwyz forms a magical microcosm that you always like to return to. Here is everything that makes the Swiss mountains so special. Depending on use, “Café Haug” could once again become an important reference point in Schwyz's social life.
