“Collection No. 3” — Exclusive residential and/or business location in the heart of Switzerland
Just a 20-minute drive south of Lucerne, you can reach the fantastically beautiful landscape of the canton of Obwalden with high mountains, meadows and forests, streams and lakes. The magnificent Baroque church of St. Peter and Paul is enthroned on the slope above the picturesque cantonal capital of Sarnen, visible from afar.
The historic estate “Collection Nobilis Estate No.3” with main house, coach house and garden house is located right in the old village center of Sarnen. It is an extensively renovated patrician house, which can be used either fully commercially, partially commercially or as a spacious residential residence. The extensive garden provides plenty of privacy and even offers space for the construction of a new building.
Numerous shops, banks and restaurants are within easy walking distance of the property. You can enjoy almost unlimited leisure opportunities here and yet you are only 20 km from Lucerne, 50 km from Zug and 70 km from Zurich. You also benefit from the canton's very tax-favourable conditions.
At every turn, you meet witnesses to an eventful history. The “Hexenturm” on the opposite side of Sarner Aa was originally a medieval residential tower, as was the core of the historic estate dating from 1286.

In 1546, Niklaus Imfeld (before 1500—1556) extended the stone residential tower into an impressive family home. The Sarner family Imfeld provided a total of nine country men during 43 years of office. Marquard Imfeld (ca. 1525—1591) extended the stone house in 1588/89 with a massive wooden block building. Melchior Imfeld (1573-1622) commissioned the Unterwalden painter Sebastian Gisig (1573-1649) to decorate the attic with frescoes and wooden ceiling paintings.
In the 19th century, the property was home to the canton's first bank, from which the Obwaldner Kantonalbank emerged. In 1822, the property was extended by two more window axes. The artist Anton Stockmann (1868—1940), married to Justine Imfeld, lived here from 1894 to 1940. His estate comprises over 250 paintings and drawings and is sold together with the property.
In 2018-2022, the property was extensively and lovingly renovated with the involvement of the preservation of historical monuments. “Collection Nobilis Estate No.3” is perfect for a prestigious company headquarters. Or you set up a spacious family residence in which all relatives enjoy maximum privacy. The additional apartment in the coach house could be made available to employees or guests.
The magnificent external appearance is also continued inside the historic estate. Behind every corridor, behind every door, a world of its own opens up with elegant parquet floors, high-quality paneling, festive tiled stoves and other exquisite details. In the large ballroom on the top floor, the magical light of the Alps seems to revive the fascinating wall paintings.
