The “Laubehuus” in Zufikon
In the “Freiamt” region, the unstraightened Reuss, the fourth-longest river in Switzerland, flows through a wide valley in numerous picturesque meanders. On the gently hilly edge of the Reuss Valley lies the still rural community of Zufikon, where the multi-generation house Laubehuus is being built with numerous spacious apartments of various sizes. The property is a social and ecological model project in which people of different generations will live together under one roof. The residents form an engaged community that shares and invigorates common spaces, helps and inspires each other. At the same time, Laubehuus is surrounded by a varied natural landscape with countless leisure opportunities for young and old.
The village center of Zufikon is characterized by elongated farmhouses with voluminous roofs and large roof overhangs, which formerly consisted of a residential wing, the adjoining barn and the stable. The Laubehuus takes up the large volumes of historic buildings in the center of Zufikon and reinterprets them with contemporary architecture.
