Between idyllic countryside and picturesque small town
Where the Rhine leaves Lake Constance, the castle-like historic estate “Wassermusik” rises in Wagenhausen TG. On a hill south of the river, you can enjoy spectacular views of the idyllic landscape and Hohenklingen Castle perched high above the village. The extensive property stretches down to the Rhine, where you can cool off in the clear water.
“Wassermusik” consists of two parts of the house with separate addresses, driveways and entrances. The extravagant northern part with the water plot comprises a luxurious apartment, while the southern part of the house has three rental apartments, which impress with beautiful parquet floors and numerous fascinating details.
In the nearby village center, there is a Volg store for daily needs. Wagenhausen TG has grown together with Stein am Rhein SH so that people benefit from a wide range of shopping opportunities, leisure activities, cultural events, cafés and restaurants. The town impresses with an excellently preserved old town and magnificent façade paintings. The train station is around ten minutes' walk away and Zurich City is just 50 minutes away by car.
The property, referred to as a castle in the documents and built around 1530, was the seat of the Wagenhausen Bailiwick and was extensively renovated in collaboration with the Preservation of Monuments, including the magnificent wall painting from 1689 on the north façade.

Through the side wing of the northern part, you reach the entrance with the artfully curved, internal staircase. The magnificent, loft-like living hall is given an invigorating patina due to the iridescent colors of the original stone floor. The high beam ceiling, a huge wooden column and a festive fireplace create a real castle atmosphere. The spacious dining area is a great place to gather for a delicious feast.
A light-filled glass room has been inserted in the side wing, which houses the kitchen with first-class professional stainless steel equipment. The convivial get-together can continue at any time on the outdoor terrace with a spectacular view of the Rhine landscape.
The large living and working room on the upper floor with lime green paneling and fine parquet flooring is filled with daylight via elongated rows of windows. In the northwest, the cozy master suite with ensuite bathroom adjoins. The charming children's or guest room also has an ensuite bathroom.
Under the exposed roof structure, an inspiring, loft-like space opens up, in which living and working can flow seamlessly into one another. With their own kitchenette, Swedish stove, bedroom and bathroom, family members can stay here independently.
On the large balcony in the roof hatch, you almost seem to be floating above the picturesque landscape. And don't forget: In the basement, there is a magnificent wine cellar, which, with massive stone walls and supporting beams, invites you to taste the fine wines from the surrounding area.
From “Water Music”, you can wonderfully watch the spectacle of the constantly changing colors and textures of the lazily flowing Rhine, whether from the magnificent interiors, from the balcony, from the outdoor terraces, from the idyllic garden or directly on your own beach on the Rhine.
