A good hour southeast of Zurich, between high mountains, the long water area of Lake Walensee opens up like a huge natural arena. The Romans already had to overcome the approximately 300 meter high terrain terrace on the south bank on their way to the alpine passes. Today, the “Kerenzerberg” is crossed by several tunnels, and it has become quieter again at the top of the mountain meadows.

The unique “Eagle's Nest” residential and studio house is located here and offers a breathtaking view of Lake Walen. The perfectly preserved jewel in early 20th century reform style impresses with a magnificent studio space converted into a living loft as well as several living, study and bedrooms with well-preserved historical details. The canton of Glarus also attracts visitors with a low tax rate of 32 percent.

“Eagle's Nest” is located in the area of the village of Filzbach — a district of the municipality of Glarus Nord. The scattered settlement has a grocery store, a bakery, a post office and several restaurants. Other shopping opportunities can be found in nearby Näfels. The secondary school is also located there; the primary school is located in the neighboring village of Obstalden. On the other side of Filzbach, there is the Kerenzerberg Sports Center with an indoor pool, sauna, tennis courts, weight and fitness room, squash courts and much more.

The spectacular landscape invites you to take spontaneous trips, for example by chairlift to Lake Talalp at 1086 m above sea level. A rock window in Mürtschenstock (2441 m above sea level) creates a fascinating natural phenomenon: The rays of the sun falling through the opening shine on the neighboring village of Obstalden at the end of November and January. In winter, the Kerenzerberg specializes in sledding with several downhill runs. You can enjoy even more winter sports on the 65 kilometers of slopes in the nearby Flumserberge, or the Arvenbüel Amden ski area directly opposite.
