Despite this rural idyll, the economic center of northwestern Switzerland, the cultural city of Basel, is only 15-20 minutes away by car. The picturesque old town attracts visitors with countless shopping opportunities, numerous well-known restaurants and a lively international art, music and architecture scene.

The Jura, Black Forest and Vosges come together impressively in the border triangle and create almost unlimited leisure opportunities. Right outside the front door, the snow-covered plateaus of the Table Jura invite you to go on cross-country skiing tours in a white wonderland in winter.

The rural community of Hochwald has everything for daily needs, such as various farm shops, a Volg grocery store, post office, kindergarten and primary school. Secondary schools can be found in the neighboring municipalities of Büren, Dornach, Arlesheim and, of course, in Basel itself, including the renowned “International School Basel”.
